How Dictalex works
1 · Record
Dictate in paragraphs — every pause ends a paragraph, which appears as text immediately. Paragraphs can be re-recorded, inserted, and reordered before you finalize. Meetings run as a single recording with documented consent and speaker separation. If something comes to mind later: add an addendum, done.
2 · Let it process
The AI transcribes with your firm's vocabulary, resolves spoken corrections (“correction, strike the last sentence …”), and creates a structured case memo: attendees, topics discussed, results, to-dos, and deadlines. The original transcript remains immutable alongside it.
3 · Work in the matter
Everything is linked to the matter: recordings, transcripts, memos, versions. German full-text search across your entire archive, editing with a complete revision history, export as Markdown, Word, or PDF — or the whole archive as an Obsidian vault.

Frequently asked questions
Is AI trained on our data?
No — contractually excluded, with us and with our AI provider Mistral (EU). Your data is processed exclusively to provide the service.
Where is our data processed?
Database and storage in Frankfurt, AI processing at Mistral in the EU. The details — including the honest answers on encryption and the CLOUD Act — are on our security page.
What happens to the audio recordings?
They are encrypted in the browser and can optionally be deleted automatically N days after transcription — including destruction of the keys, so that backups become unreadable too. The transcript is retained.
Does Dictalex replace the attorney's review?
No, deliberately not: every AI output is a draft in the editor, with the immutable original transcript right beside it. Dictalex is built to make the duty of review practicable — not to remove it.
Can we leave at any time?
Yes. The vault export delivers your entire archive as a folder structure of Markdown files — open, readable, usable without Dictalex. No lock-in.
